Enable interactive Calendar
I say have a Calendar interaction when you hover over a day. On the actual page have sign up options where characters or members can sign up for event activities. Useful in game group raids, instances, quests, and PvP.

They can currently sign up for events on the calendar by clicking on the day and the specific event. Sorry for the confusion!
