@Volo .. the guild roster is available to view by anyone. The guild calendar can only be accessed by a member of the guild. Probably the only way to do it would be via some sort of addon that we would install, which would read the information from in-game, and then upload to the site.

This is something that is needed. Unless guilds ONLY use the website calendar to organise events, the website calendar is a bit redundant currently. It would be nice to actually show this information.

Could I also suggest that, in the customisation menu, where you choose which template to change, there are some additional options somewhere? For example, being able to rename one of my "templates" (ie, the whole thing I've made - template, colours, css, etc). My current live site is based on a template I've put together, named "test" :p

I'd also like to be able to "copy" my active site, in order to make a secondary version of it, so that I can fiddle with it over the course of days if necessary, until I get it right and ready for public use.

I do like that now we get to play around with the live site and preview the site prior to making it live, but in order to save those changes, we have to save them and make them live, or discard them.

Currently, as far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to create a new "copy" of the current live site from scratch .. basically rebuild a second version, before tweaking it.

Looking forward to this being realised. I think if you look at those active sites (including mine www.darkwolves.eu) that are still on V4 you might get some idea of the type of look we're wanting on V5. I keep checking, but so far even some of the basics aren't there unfortunately, because I'd love to make the switch.

nice one .. really looking forward to seeing more customization options .. I'd love to be able to make the switch to V5 :-)

Speaking of which .. is there any idea of when another build is going to be released?

Okay .. so basically currently we could call it "layout" more than template. Two three-column and one two-column layouts .. and of the three column ones, one is more "wide" than the other.

Comparing with V4 .. you could also add any colour scheme (with a lot more variety) and header to V4, but currently there is no option for transparencies, page backgrounds or flexibility with widget content/headers in V5 (in the template builder you could pick from a long selection of options, or create your own). Admittedly I would imagine a lot of those probably weren't used very often, and you would have a better idea than I of which options in the template builder were popular/unpopular and, yes, some of it was rather clunky .. but it was certainly one of the things that attracted us here in the first place - the massive number of options available to tweak sites.

What makes GL stand out from a lot of the rest is that, often you go to a competitors website and they're all basically the same. Yes .. the colours are different and the pictures are different, headers are different .. but that's just the gravy. The meat of the sites is identical. They're all two or three column sites, restricted to the middle of the screen, with the content in the middle feeling a bit squished.

I realise that the more options that are provided, the more problems occur .. especially when you have to take into account a huge range of browsers, plugins, addons and resolutions .. but if those options were possible in V4, then they should in V5 :-)

In V5 I like the ease of use, the "try it before you set it" options and the way the new page customisation works .. it just needs ... more :p It needs the "wow" factor of someone seeing it and thinking "cool .. lots of toys to play with", whilst still being easy to understand and use.

Getting back to the issue of transparencies though, and page backgrounds .. from what I've seen of the GL sites I've been most impressed with, the majority use these. So I would hope that these two options would be in "phase 1"?

Actually .. what might be a better idea, is to move that button that is within the forum post box, to the bottom right of the box instead (under the signature area, perhaps). Since we've moved to V5 one of the things that I keep EXPECTING to be able to do, but cannot do, is click on "reply" at the bottom of a post (especially when we don't use the quick reply box). It's not so bad when the post is fairly short, but I do tend to waffle on a lot (and have a few guildees that do the same), and it just doesn't feel right to read a long post, and then have to scroll back to the top of it to hit "reply".

The other option, of course, is that if you don't have the quick reply box there, you have a button to click for "reply" in it's place (ie, bottom left underneath the last post). You would then still have to have a button in each post though, in order to access the "quote" options, etc.

Right now you can’t roll your own menu, that will come later. Right now the dropdowns represent existing navigation structure and will be created for custom sections that have sub page.

Roll your own menus are coming later.

Custom color themes are planned and will likely include a bit more documentation.

we have updaated the text and will address the “return” to the tutorials later, we are discussing putting them in uservoice for review after with a link on the profile or some place similar. We just aren’t 100% sure where yet.
