How do I run a tournament?

There are a few things you need to do in order to track a tournament in our system.  First, you will need to create the tournament itself (name it, set a date/time, etc).  The people who are looking to compete will also need to create teams so the system can track them.

Once you've done that, you can seed the tournament - that is, pairing off teams so that they can compete.  This can either be done at random or assigned manually by an admin.  Full instructions on how to do this can be found here.

Now you will have an initial list of competitors to get things started with and can see who is paired off with whom.  This means the next step is to see who wins those matches!

Tracking Winners

After the first matches are played and you (as the tournament organizer) see who wins and loses, you can edit the rounds of the tournament to reflect this.  To do this, go to the Tournaments page and click Edit Rounds under the tournament that you're running.

This will bring you to the first part of the menu, where you set the times for the individual rounds.  If you've already done this, just click the Next button to the right of the brackets.

After you click Next, you'll be brought to the area where you can set winners and losers.  Click the Edit Results button underneath the information for the round you're editing.

Clicking that link brings you to the area where you can set wins and losses.  Enter the results of the round (this must be a numerical value!) in each field and click the Update button at the bottom of the menu.  It will automatically calculate the next matches.

After the first bracket is completed and all the results are in, you can edit the next round of the bracket.  Once all brackets are completed, the system will automatically calculate the first, second and third place winners!
