"Topic Break" code for NEWS section
I often post interviews, news articles, and the like on our front page; however, some of them get to be a bit lengthy. Blogger and other sites have the ability to insert a "jump break" which basically truncates your post on the main page and adds a "Read more..." link beneath the break. Clicking it takes you to the full post.
Wondering if this type of functionality can be implemented as a forum code, to where you can add the code to a forum post and when it is on the Homepage News, the site code recognizes the break and doesn't show anything below it, instead putting a link to the original post. That would allow you to only show smaller recaps on the frontpage versus the actual forum post.
What I have typically done in the past is post a shortened version as the original post which goes on the front page, then in the first REPLY add the entire post, so people click the "View Post" button and it shows the full article...but want automation! ;)
This is not currently planned in a development cycle, but we may revisit it in a future release.

Yeah I think this would be a very neat addition to the tools.

Alternatively simply set news items so they they're always a max of X number of lines .. any posts longer than that automatically have a "read on ..." link ....
Although I like the idea of being able to manually set the break, better :-)
